Cloudflare Systems Engineer on Cloudflare’s Growth Engineering team building scalable front-end and full-stack solutions. Focuses on experimentation, performance, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
Cloudflare powers a large portion of the internet through its intelligent global network and rapidly growing developer platform. In this role within the Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ETI) department and Product Growth team, you will join a top-notch engineering team focused on building large-scale, high-performance applications and delightful user experiences. As an experienced, product-minded front-end or full-stack engineer, you will bridge product engineering and growth to translate product vision into polished code that directly impacts key business metrics and evolves our self-service properties.
Experimentation & Growth: Deliver customer-facing UI experiences and A/B experiments aimed at accelerating user acquisition, engagement, and retention through data-informed hypotheses.
Full-Stack Execution: Architect scalable front-end solutions and build features end-to-end across the product lifecycle (front-end, back-end, IaC, system design, debugging, and testing).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, design, and data/analytics teams to define outcome measurements, establish experimental frameworks, track behavior attribution, and shape product roadmaps.
Performance & Productivity: Enhance application performance, code quality, security, and developer productivity across core properties.
Trust & Safety Compliance: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure all product experiences comply with trust and safety principles.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Core Languages & Frameworks: Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript for building reusable SDKs and UI components, alongside strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript ecosystems.
Serverless Architecture: Experience building with high-scale serverless systems (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
Growth & Analytics: Experience designing interfaces for business KPIs (onboarding, adoption), running A/B experiments, using feature flags/gating, and leveraging telemetry.
System Design & APIs: Strong foundation in system design—balancing engineering excellence with visual aesthetics—and experience working with or designing RESTful APIs.
Development Workflows: Background in building tools/frameworks to boost developer productivity, experience using modern AI/LLM augmented workflows, and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What Makes Cloudflare Special?
We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet.
Project Galileo: Since 2014, we've equipped more than 2,400 journalism and civil society organizations in 111 countries with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare’s enterprise customers--at no cost.
Athenian Project: In 2017, we created the Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration. Since the project, we've provided services to more than 425 local government election websites in 33 states.
1.1.1.1: We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here’s the deal - we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy commitment and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.
