Responsibilities

As a Director, Advanced Analytics, you will lead CookUnity’s Advanced Analytics function, helping the business understand performance, identify opportunities, and make better decisions across product performance, retention, and growth.
This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role. You will tackle complex analytical problems while developing the team, providing technical direction, and raising the quality and impact of its work. You will also help shape the team’s structure, priorities, and ways of working as the business evolves.
Your focus will be advanced analytics, experimentation, and measurement, working in partnership with the separate Data Science/ML and Engineering teams responsible for deploying models into products and systems.
Strategic Direction & Business Partnership
Set the direction for Advanced Analytics. Build a proactive analytical agenda aligned with CookUnity’s priorities. Establish clear ownership, prioritize high-impact questions, and balance immediate business needs with longer-term capability building.
Turn insights into business impact. Bring an independent analytical perspective to leadership discussions, communicate recommendations clearly, and evaluate how the resulting decisions affect business outcomes. Be the person driving key business and product decisions based on advanced analytics insights.
Advanced Analytics & Experimentation
Measure the impact of product, operational, and pricing decisions. Use experimentation and causal inference to determine how changes to the customer experience, operational processes, pricing, and loyalty programs affect conversion, ordering, retention, and profitability. Apply quasi-experimental methods when randomized tests aren’t feasible, and clearly communicate assumptions and uncertainty.
Lead growth experimentation. Partner with Growth and Product to design, prioritize and evaluate tests across acquisition, activation, offers and lifecycle engagement. Connect short-term conversion gains to longer-term retention and customer value.
Lead hands-on analytical work. Dive into complex problems, challenge assumptions, and guide methodological choices. Provide technical direction from problem framing through analysis, interpretation, and communication.
Business Performance & Product Impact
Explain churn and retention drivers. Investigate how customer mix, pricing, promotions, meal quality, menu availability and the delivery experience influence weekly ordering, skips, pauses and cancellations. Turn those findings into prioritized opportunities to improve retention and lifetime value, and drive better business strategy and product feature outcomes.

Required

7+ years of progressive hospitality leadership experience in high-volume, guest-facing restaurant, café, retail, or experiential environments.
Direct experience opening a new restaurant or hospitality venue from pre-construction through launch is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to lead complex, concept-driven operations with a strong focus on guest experience, team performance, and operational consistency.
Strong business and strategic judgment, with experience using guest feedback, operational data, and performance metrics to refine service models and improve results.
Experience overseeing bar and beverage operations, including vendor management, compliance, inventory controls, and service execution.
Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, labor management, cost control, and P&L performance.
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external partners.
Comfort working with technology-enabled hospitality environments, including POS systems, digital ordering platforms, CRM tools, and business intelligence or reporting systems.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining a strong focus on guest experience, team culture, and business performance.
NYC Food Protection Manager Certification required, or ability to obtain certification prior to beginning management duties at the Flagship.

Preferred

3+ years of successful senior hospitality leadership experience in New York City.
Experience leading high-traffic, mixed-use hospitality environments that may include dining, café service, takeaway, retail, events, or other experiential components.
Experience with technology-enabled service models, omnichannel retail, and digital ordering integrations.
Pre-opening experience in a flagship, concept-driven, or first-of-its-kind location.
